Frogs' Legs in the Ebro Delta

This Easter we've been in the Ebro Delta. It's a very special place where, besides enjoying wonderful landscapes and going for walks or bike rides, you eat wonderfully. One of the typical dishes of the area is frogs' legs.

I don't know whether you're all used to eating an animal like the frog, but in this area
Battered frogs legs from the Ebro Delta

it's very typical and a truly delicious dish. Only the hind legs are eaten, which is where the meat is — hence frogs' legs, not just frogs. They're usually eaten battered, and they come out crisp and tasty. The meat is reminiscent of chicken, and if you were told they were quail legs or those of some other small bird that could pass for a frog in size, you'd believe it completely.

I recommend going to the Delta and trying the frogs' legs. We had them at the Casanovas restaurant near La Cava, in the municipality of Deltebre, but I've tried them in several places in the area and have always found them exquisite.

Those of you who aren't into trying slightly unusual things can enjoy the wonderful rice dishes they make in the Delta.
