Kids' Birthday Cake: Yogurt Sponge with Raspberry Jam and Chocolate
Today my son Pau turned 5. Yesterday, with a group of kids from his class and his cousins, we celebrated his birthday party.
My wife made him this birthday cake with a classic yogurt sponge. Once the sponge is baked and cooled, cut it in half horizontally, brush it with a little syrup, spread on some raspberry jam, put it back together and coat it in couverture chocolate.
The jelly sweets on top were the finishing touch on a cake that looked a bit like the legendary Tigretón (which, you'll remember, was the cousin of the Pantera Rosa and the Bony snack cakes), all by Bimbo.
