Sesame Chicken Skewers with Avocado and Soy Caramel: an Original Tapa
Andrea, a colleague from work and the author of at least one recipe published on the blog, has passed on this new recipe and the information that goes with it — although, as you'll see when you read it, it's incomplete. Andrea, we want to know the name of the restaurant!
Andrea dixit: There's a restaurant in Barcelona I love, where you can eat original, varied food at a very good price. One day, if you bribe me suitably, I'll tell you its name... But for now here's a recipe I tried there (the chef was kind enough to explain how to make it). It's an appetiser or tapa.
Sesame chicken skewers with avocado and soy caramel
Ingredients
- 1 chicken breast
- 1 avocado
- Honey
- Sugar
- Sesame seeds
- Soy sauce
- Salt and pepper
- Sunflower or soybean oil
Method
Dice the chicken breast, season it with salt and pepper and coat it first in honey and then in sesame seeds.
Separately, put soy sauce and sugar in a small pan to make the soy caramel (not too strong, so it gets sweet but doesn't burn).
Fry the chicken in sunflower or soybean oil (careful, the honey makes it spit!).
Make a skewer with a cocktail stick, placing a piece of avocado on each cube of chicken, and drizzle with the soy caramel... delicious!
